After the critical and commercial success of Scream (2022)it wasn’t long before Paramount announced a sequel. shout 6 will follow the survivors of the 2022 film as they leave Woodsboro behind and attempt to start a new chapter. Franchise regular Courteney Cox also returns in shout 6, reprising her role as Gale Weathers. Cox, one of the first actors confirmed for the film, is excited about her return and recently praised the script of shout 6† Without revealing anything, for obvious reasons, Cox shared: entertainment tonight†
“I don’t know anything about contracts and where things are, but I’ll tell you in the script — it’s a really good one. You really should get killed talking about it, so I’m not going to say anything.”
Most of the creative team behind Scream are coming back for shout 6, includes director duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett, best known for directing the 2019 slasher comedy Ready or not† Guy Busick (Castle Rock) and James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) write the screenplay.
The returning cast for shout 6 includes Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy-Brown and Mason Gooding. shout 6 will also see the return of another beloved legacy character, Hayden Panettiere’s Kirby Reed from scream 4† shout 6 will mark Panettiere’s first major film appearance in several years. Let’s hope she doesn’t suffer the same fate as Ghostface survivor Dewey Riley (David Arquette), who was brutally murdered in shout 5, but we can’t know anything for sure about the franchise. However, it would be completely in keeping with the franchise’s signature subversive attitude to bring Kirby Reed back just to kill her again.
As for Neve Campbell’s involvement in… shout 6, there is currently no word, but she is also expected to return. After all, it wouldn’t be scream movie without a showdown between Sidney Prescott and Ghostface.
shout 6 will begin filming this summer and will hit the screens on March 31, 2023.
Courteney Cox Returns in Shining Vale Season 2
Courteney Cox headlines the Starz horror comedy series Shining Vale, which was recently renewed for Season 2. The show follows a dysfunctional family as they move into a new home with a sinister history. Cox plays Patricia “Pat” Phelps, an unfulfilled, struggling writer who thinks she’s being haunted by a ghost.
A lot of Shining Vale’s Season 1 dealt with Pat’s mental health issues and confused viewers with the story. Are the ghosts real or just in Pat’s mind? While the finale confirmed some theories, it also left fans with some unanswered questions that are likely to be explored further in Season 2. Cox spoke about Shining Vale with ET, saying,
“I was so lucky to discover what I could do in Season 1, and I can only imagine it will be even more. But everything from addiction to mental health to marital problems to moving and writer’s block. I just had so many things to play — having teens, one going through puberty, one mom pushing away — that I’m really comfortable with or going through. I had so many. It was so versatile, my character. And I can imagine it’s going to be more, because at the end of last season I went straight to a psychiatric ward. I can’t even imagine what’s going to happen, it’s limitless.”
Shining Vale Season 2 has no release date, but be sure to watch the show exclusively on Starz.
