Ms. Marvel’s Iman Vellani Compares Working on the Disney+ Show and The Marvels

Ms. Marvel is less than a month away and Iman Vellani has revealed that she’s had an “amazing” time filming in the MCU.

There are certain actors who spend decades building some of the biggest roles of their careers, but for Iman Vellani, she starts off as big as they can by playing Disney+’s titular heroine. Mrs. Marvel series and reprises her role in the miracles with other MCU stars such as Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson. Of Mrs. Marvel premiering next month, Vellani has talked about the differences between working on a Disney+ show and the big screen movie that follows.

Mrs. Marvel brings Kamala Khan into the MCU storyline, a young girl who is a huge fan of Captain Marvel and dreams of becoming a superhero herself. An encounter with an ancient artifact grants her wish as she is suddenly able to project her body in strange and superhuman ways and she suddenly discovers that she had to learn to deal with being more than just a normal schoolgirl. Like so many other additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s long-term plans, Mrs. Marvel was first discussed several years ago by Kevin Feige and his team, as recently revealed by producer Sana Amanat.

“It was definitely years ago. There has always been a buzz,” Amanat said earlier. “I know Kevin [Feige] was very excited to try and bring this to life. I think at this point it’s been four or five years since we officially changed it. But it was exciting and we were really happy to know that not only would it be adapted, but it would also be adapted into a live-action series, which is what I always hoped for. I feel like this is a series because there’s so much world and community.”

Mrs. Marvel will make its debut on June 8 on Disney+, while the miracles will now hit theaters on July 28, 2023.
